We have all heard the rhetoric “Unlike large resource-rich countries, Singapore cannot afford to close its borders for long” — Lawrence Wong.
So, Singapore never really closed its borders to China until many countries do so. And despite the infections, Chinese tourists can still enter till Jan 31, 2020. (And PRs and Citizens can still come in from China)
Singapore managed COVID-19 pretty well, but continues to import new cases. Then when the foreign workers who live in close proximity in the domitories got infected, the infection in Singapore soared.
Why are we doing this again? Last year when Singaporeans cry out to close their borders to China as there is a new strain of Wuhan Virus, we were told, “not sick, don’t wear masks” and it is just like flu.
When some groups highlight the plight of foreign workers in the dorms, again, it was ignored.

Structured problem solving
Structured problem-solving starts with framing the problem.
With COVID-19 accelerating the need for digital transformation of companies, I was looking for some form of certification to tell people that I already have some of these skills from my previous experience, however, this is Singapore. There are companies that are looking for people with 10 years of Blockchain experience to lead a team… (And relevant certifications and degrees)
I have been doing some sustainability and CSR consulting, but I can see that digital transformation and the relevant certification can probably give my clients peace of mind that I know my stuff, so I applied for the course.
