Capability Team for Digital Transformation

Working in Silos (apart from poor leadership) is a key reason why companies fail to embrace digital transformation.

There is a great book by Brian Solis that talks about how businesses that fail to understand the digital world will eventually cease to exist.

Startups are agile and nimble, what they lack, they can quickly attain with aggressive growth strategies and almost all of them are digital natives.

Most organizations (or governments) plan their work in silos to solve each problem without looking holistically. A project is initiated, something’s built and then forgotten.

To fix this, companies should map their business capabilities. Business capabilities are an integrated set of organizational competencies applied through processes, technology, and expertise to capture or deliver value to the organization. This is a mindset change that will invigorate most organizations.

First, identify the gaps in the current capabilities and form teams that are dedicated to enhancing those capabilities with the mindset of a product manager. Capabilities, like products, need to be managed through a life cycle…
