Changing K100 Pannier Gaskets

The BMW K100RS / K100 / K100RT is almost a 40 year old motorcycle. My K100RT is from the 1985, so some of the parts are starting to get worn out.

One particular part is often ignored. The Panniers or side boxes. My boxes were leaking and when I ride in the rain, there is always moisture inside.

I’ve checked the box and it seems like it has an old foam gasket, so I decided to change it.

So, I’ve measured the diameter of the gasket and it was around 5mm, so I ordered a 5x2mm Latex Tube and a 5mm dense foam gasket to test.

I used a small screwdriver to remove the old gasket and used it to put on the new gaskets.

Changing the gaskets did help. I washed the motorcycle and the insides of the box remained dry.
