Many people ride motorcycles get classic motorcycles. Some buy classic motorcycles because of nostalgic value, some ride classics because they are easier to fix on your own, and some just collect bikes because classics go up in value.

Lately, some of the old motorcycles have risen a lot in value. The iconic 1973 Kawasaki Z1 900 sold for more than US$50,000 at Mecum auction.

A lot of motorcycles have increased in value recently. Sure, there are rare motorcycles like the Vincent Black Shadow that sells for more than US$100,000, historically, there were also many more common classic motorcycles that did not do so well at auctions.

If you intend to get an older motorcycle, generally, there are a few types of motorcycles — Collectible Classic Motorcycles, Low cost reliable motorcycles, or cheap old bikes that you run to the ground.

Generally, collectible classic motorcycles are the cream of the crop. If you own one, the value of such motorcycles will only go up.
