Many companies like to donate or “Do Charity”. Sometimes, it is written in formal policies, and besides, formal giving provides tax breaks.
However, just donations and giving for the sake of doing, or as some people may think — “Doing their Duty” — Does not really yield real social impact.
For a start, if you think you are doing some charity by giving things or donating money, have you ever met the beneficiaries or measured impact?
Yes, if you are an individual that donates $50, perhaps you may not think about impact, but for businesses that try to “Do Good” with a large amount of money, the least they could do is to have some kind of impact measurement.
Temasek Foundation is “seen” to do a lot during the COVID-19 pandemic, they provided hand sanitizers and face masks, and are still doing so.
I was just curious if they know the beneficiaries of their “Gifts”?
My mum goes to Dementia daycare and received a pack of face masks. They were reusable cloth face masks.
