Plant Swap is an organization that brings communities to come together to:

a) Swap Seedlings

b) Swap Seeds

c) Swap Plants

d) Trade Tips

e) Share what you have in abundance

f) Learn from one another

I’ve worked with different people to organize plant swaps in different countries, and you can start one in your own community. After more than a year of experience in organizing various plant swaps from small group swaps to massive 200 man swaps, I’ve decided to add some rules to have some order to the chaos.

Cuttings:

  1. When you are doing cuttings, cut a branch with a new stem, not the old and woody ones.
  2. Remove at least the bottom half of the leaves by cutting them as close as possible from the stem. Don’t be lazy and rip the leaves off. Sometimes, you damage the stem while pulling out the leaves.
  3. Root in a small recycled container. Paper cut, etc. Add some epsom salt in the water. Change the water every 2 days to prevent algae growth and mosquito from breeding.
  4. Place in a very bright area. For some plants, you may require the “Greenhouse method” to root if you have too much sun. This is done so by covering the plant in a clear plastic…
