Regression of the “Smart Nation”

It smells like something is wrong when the product out is inferior than the previous one, and sold to you as an upgrade. What is worse is that the New — which was supposed to be an impartial non-profit company — seems to be a mouthpiece used to do a cover up instead of real investigative journalism.

As Singapore transits to SimplyGo, we revisit things that have simply gone

The fact that LTA, SimplyGo seems to be taking a step back in progress sounds really fishy.

Looking at the broader picture, similar cards are used and they support public transportation, retail and motoring.

Sadly, SimplyGo — the stored card that cannot tell you your fare cost and balance on the card — cannot be used for motoring is simply unacceptable. I don’t want to pay another deposit, have another card with cash value inside which will expire, and I will lose money if I do not change it in time.

Why does the public need to accept SimplyGo and why is this inferior product forced on us? How much did the government pay to have something worse? Didn’t the government engage the public before forcing such a drastic change?
