The world has transformed to our modern society today through various revolutions. We had agricultural, industrial and information revolutions and now we are starting to look at the 4th which blur the lines of our physical, data and biological world.
Some countries may look at Singapore in the forefront of the changes as it is a small built up nation which has the financial resources to pull off such a feat.
I would say that Singapore in the past had bold leaders who dared to push the country in directions which they think is right, and experiemented with various economic theories and opened up its market to multi-nationals to grow its competency. From a low base, Singapore could grow fast and do well.
Living in the United States for almost 2 decades, I have seen cities like Detroit, built by hardworking people in companies that were once titans in the industry, fade into just another city in the rust belt of America.
It is clear that hardworking people who are competent managers that can continue on the same path, does not guarantee a city could continue to thrive in today’s economy.
