Flattening the curve — What does it mean?

It is important to understand the new terms thrown at you. This period can be confusing with new restrictions thrown and new terms and pictures showed. Social media is full of new discoveries and information but in order to share and comment properly, you need to first understand what it means.

When serious efforts in China to contain the efforts fail, we know that this pandemic is something that you cannot simply ignore, and it will infect a lot of people throughout the globe.

Health officials in many countries take for granted that COVID-19 will continue to infect millions of people around the world over the coming months. “Flattening the curve” is a strategy used in epidemiology, as an idea of slowing a virus’ spread. When fewer people need to seek treatment at any given time is known as “flattening the curve.”

With the prompt implementation of “social distancing” guidelines in many countries, this can reduce the number of people getting infected at any point of time, reducing the loads on the hospitals and the number of deaths.
