When You Benefit from Inefficiencies, Change Comes Slow.

Have you even been motivated to pay your credit card bills if the credit card company failed to send you an invoice and there is no late fees?

Sadly, this is the world we live in, and you find that large organizations are often slow to change, and what’s worse is if they benefit from not changing.

In Singapore, the problem with low productivity and the liberal use of low wage foreign workers is something that many people want to solve in principle, but when the government derives a big chunk of revenue from the levies, there is still not much improvements on productivty in many sectors.

When it comes to construction, many companies do not even own proper tools for the workers to use, and you don’t even need to talk about training. In many cases, you still get to see sledgehammers and a lot of labor used.

I’ve lived in the US, Taiwan, Japan and Europe, and I’ve seen a lot of interesting and smart tools used for construction, tools for roofing, installing pipes, etc. There are a lot of special tools, but we hardly even see any power tools used for screwing things in.
